Its route is light blue in color and connects Lo Wu Station in North District, Lok Ma Chau Station in Yuen Long District and Admiralty Station in Central and Western District. It runs roughly in a north-south direction. The total length of the route is about 47.5 kilometers and has a total of 16 stations. It is the second longest heavy-duty railway passenger line in Hong Kong. It is owned by the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation and is operated by the MTR Corporation in the form of "service operation rights" .
