パラワン島の旅🇵🇭 フィリピンの世界遺産の一つ、パラワンのプエルトプリンセサ地底河川国立公園に行ってきました。 プエルト・プリンセサ地底河川国立公園、通称アンダーグラウンドリバーは、フィリピンで最も重要な保護地域の一つで、セント・ポール山脈の真下を流れる洞窟内の地下川を保護する目的で指定された国立公園です。 地底川と洞窟は1999年にユネスコの世界遺産に登録され、新・世界七不思議 自然版の一つにも選ばれ、2012年には、ラムサール条約登録地ともなりました。 かつて島の住民はこの洞窟内に精霊が棲むと信じ立ち入らなかったが、19世紀末、ヨーロッパ人が初めて踏み入ると、洞窟は石灰岩地形が生んだ巨大な鍾乳洞を流れる川で、キラキラ光る鍾乳石など奇岩ひしめく神秘の世界が広がっていたそうです。 世界最長の航行可能な地下河川を持つこの驚異的な洞窟システムは、大量に降った雨によって石灰岩がを削られ、地下河川として海に流出した為と考えられており、鍾乳石や石筍の壮観な岩の造形美、そして、天井からぶら下がるコウモリや、ヘビ、 希少種の蝶等の固有の原生野生動物が保護されていて、洞窟内でのフラッシュ撮影は厳禁で、もちろん鍾乳石には絶対に触れてはいけないそうです。 観光客の探検が許可されているのは約2kmのみですが、巨大な洞窟内では天井から大きく垂れ下がる鍾乳石や、床下に滴り落ちて堆積して出来た石筍など様々な個性豊かな造形美を見る事ができ、悠久の歳月をかけて創られた、ここでしか見る事の出来ない神秘の世界を堪能できました。 天井から落ちてくるコウモリの糞は口に入ると危険らしく見上げる時は口を閉じて見て下さい笑 Palawan Trip.🇵🇭 We visited Puerto Princesa Underground River National Park in Palawan, one of the World Heritage Sites in the Philippines. Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, commonly known as the Puerto Princesa Underground River, is one of the most important protected areas in the Philippines, a national park designated to protect the underground river in a cave that flows directly under the St. Paul Mountains. The underground river and caves were inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1999 and were selected as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Also in 2012, it was registered under the Ramsar Convention. The extraordinary cave system, featuring the world's longest navigable underground river, is thought to be the result of abundant rainfall that chipped away limestone and drained it into the sea as an underground river, preserving the spectacular rock formations of stalactites and stalagmites and the native wildlife, including bats hanging from the ceiling, snakes, and rare species of butterflies. Tourists are allowed to explore only about 2 km, and there may be new species of organisms that have not yet been discovered.
