We all have obstacles in life that define us. In this talk, Dylan Buskermolen shares how his cancer diagnosis in 2017 was one of these obstacles and how embracing it as an opportunity to learn allowed him to better himself and transform it into something positive. He challenges audiences to embrace their defining obstacles and use them as an opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with those around them. "Dylan is a recent graduate from Queen’s University and has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Global Development. In his second year at Queen’s while balancing a busy schedule of essay writing and video game playing, Dylan was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a form of blood cancer. Since his diagnosis and treatment, Dylan has worked to share how the experience made him a better person and gave him the context and inspiration to create a world where no one has to fear cancer. Dylan embraced his diagnosis along with the ups and downs that came with it and wants you to know why cancer patients are the most resilient and inspiring people he’s ever met." This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
