Anton Bruckner is chiefly famous because of his monumental symphonies, yet, before he got the mastery to realize those sound cathedrals he wrote numerous small musical miniatures. They only occupy a small place in the master’s large catalogue but they are the first autonomous symphonic compositions of young Anton Bruckner. These Three Sketches and March in D minor were written in 1862, while he was studying composition with Otto Kitzler.
