The HORIBA VULCAN Chassis Dynamometer is the result of continuous optimisation and innovation. It can be supplied as either a two- wheel drive or a four-wheel drive test system and suits a wide range of vehicles as the wheel base can be adjusted at a maximum distance of 4.4 m. The jogging function allows the vehicle's axles to be located at exactly the right point of the role's surface. Automated quality checks can be run over night to save valuable testing time. The SPARC Vehicle Controller is a powerful tool to control all aspects of the dynamometer's operation from a simple to use interface. VULCAN has a modular flexible design making it easy to modify the system according to customer requirements. Extensions and upgrades can be added by inserting extra modules. Universal vibration isolating feet eliminate the need for expensive foundations. A unique two-arm calibration system underpins the test results. HORIBA offers a total solution for vehicle emission testing including CVS-Tunnels, partial flow systems, gaseous measurement, particulate mass measurement, particle counting systems and emission host systems. The VETS Automation System not only controls VULCAN but coordinates all systems in the test cell. A special driver's aid system supports the driver during emission test cycles giving feedback about important figures such as target speed. After the test cycle, the samples which have been gained during the cycle are analysed and a complete report about the results is created automatically.
