This video shows the fabrication of a new main pivot pin for the steering gear arm. The pivot pin was made to fit the (2) bores previously shown in the last video being machined. Holes are drilled and tapped from each end for grease fittings. There still are a couple of cross holes needed to get grease to the boss areas of the steering gear arm. Next rework is done to the steering arm. 2 1/2" inches were cut off (the old threads) and then the arm setup in the lathe for cutting 2 1/2" inches of new threads. (7/8-14) The original threads were only about 50% there. Before doing all this work / threading to the steering arm it was straightened out in the press, as straight as I could get it. On the yoke part that threads onto the steering arm, I ran a 7/8-14 tap through to clean up the existing threads. These threads aren't 100% but I would say they're about 75 to 80% and with a new heavy nut installed on new threads it seems to lock up real good. There are some still photos at the end of this video to show some of the work maybe with a little more detail then the video. Take care and thank you for watching...
