In our agriculture-driven state, 62% of the population depends on agriculture and allied activities for their livelihood. The rural economy will be strengthened only if agriculture becomes profitable, and the state will be economically prosperous only if the rural economy is strong. Agriculture and allied departments are making appreciable progress in the NDA Government under the leadership of Hon'ble Chief Minister with an unwavering commitment and resolve to strengthen the agriculture sector, which has been the cornerstone of the state's financial edifice, and to make the farmer stand as the “King”. Agriculture should become a profitable profession if the youth have to turn towards agriculture. To make the farmer a “King”, the Hon’ble Chief Minister has launched the “Rythanna Mee Kosam” programme. Under this initiative, the Government is working with utmost commitment for farmer welfare by giving high priority to the Five Principles: (1) Water Security, (2) Demand-driven crops, (3) Agri-Tech, (4) Food Processing, and (5) Government Support. With the objective of achieving “Swarna Andhra 2047”, the Government of Andhra Pradesh have formulated, ten principles of which 'Farmer Agri-Tech' stands as a pivotal principle for the agricultural sector. Under the guidance of our Hon’ble Chief Minister, we are leveraging modern technologies such as Deep Technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Drones, Robotics, and Satellite-based systems to transform agriculture into a profitable and high-income generating sector. In line with the changing dietary habits and food consumption patterns, directions have been given to take appropriate measures in encouraging farmers to shift towards demand-driven crop cultivation. In the past, Governments were considered highly efficient if they could simply ensure that people had three meals a day. But today, going beyond that, our visionary Hon’ble Chief Minister is steering the agriculture sector with the primary objective of promoting the cultivation of food crops that are free from pesticide and fertilizer residues and rich in nutritional value. To achieve this, our Government has adopted key priorities such as promoting natural farming, encouraging the adoption of digital practices, facilitating crop diversification from traditional crops to high-income crops, ensuring remunerative prices for produce, reducing post-harvest losses and food processing thereby enhancing value addition. Dasaradhi garu said, “A farmer's tears are an insult to the Nation The misfortune of a farmer looking at the sky in desperate hope for a raindrop to save their harvest must end. The adage that 'Agriculture is a gamble with the monsoons' must become a thing of the past. To achieve this, through the foresight of our visionary CM, we are focusing on providing stable irrigation facilities with special emphasis to micro-irrigation. We are taking decisive steps to provide irrigation water to every single acre by completing projects such as Polavaram, Pattiseema, Handri-Neeva, Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanthi, Linking of Vamsadhara-Nagavali, Thotapalli, Mahendratanaya, Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation Scheme, Vamsadhara Phase-I & II, Veligonda, and Tarakarama Teertha Sagaram, as well as the restoration of the Srisailam and Dowleswaram gates. Andhra Pradesh State Gross Domestic Product (GSDP) stands at ₹17,62,357 crores (2025-26 FAE at current prices), in which the agricultural sector contributed ₹5,39,454 crores, accounting for a 33.20% share. While India's national agricultural and allied sectors growth rate stands at 0.80%, due to the initiatives taken by our State Government, Andhra Pradesh has recorded an impressive growth rate of 7.83% in agriculture and allied sectors. I am proud to state that Andhra Pradesh contributes 10% to the country’s agricultural production.
