RR MERCH. STORE: STORE: https://www.redbubble.com/people/cult... The final day of operation. We spend the first half or so of the video taking one final glance at the Gladstone Branch, looking largely as it had for the previous 50 years; think old US&S gong and 'teardrop' grade crossing bells, the hand-throw in and out passing siding at Millington, and the venerable 1931-built Pullman 'green hornets' that had handled all service on the branch for five decades. From Gladstone, we head down to the west portal of Bergen Tunnel for some incomparable action from a decidedly pre-9/11 era of railroad ROW access. After some footage a stone's throw from Bergen Tunnel, at West End tower, we head to the DL&W's iconic Bush copper-edged train sheds at Hoboken Terminal, witnessing the end of the line for the Lackawanna electrics from the literal end of the line. Coverage includes the final Montrose, Gladstone, and main line/M&E departures with train 639 of the latter corridor closing out the MU era at 7:30 PM on August 24, 1984.
