Muncaster Castle ... The Terrace & Wild Heron Feed

OK for children and family viewing Part 2 of the visit to Muncaster Castle last September. This part is The Terrace walk with views over the River Esk and across to Scafell Pike. The entrance to The Ghyll is from the terrace with numerous plants and shrubs. After the Terrace walk it was back to the castle where every day at 4o'clock Wild Herons collect in the trees at Cannon Bank. They have done this for many years, knowing they will receive food thrown down for them. They are only given a small amount each visit as they are wild birds and must learn to find their own food. Although this visit was at the end of September I have been to Muncaster in Spring a few times and once in April to walk in their Bluebell Woods, which are very lovely, so Muncaster Castle is well worth a visit at any time of the year.
