I posted K’EHIN S’OKUN by Adeolu AKISANYA Baba Eto and I reminded us of the story behind that theme. Alagba Gani Oladipo revealed another musician by the name Salawu Woro of Idofian did another version of K’EHIN S’OKUN. He also told that Salawu Woro’s life was terminated by armed robbers, sadly. I found that particular record. I found one more by Hubert Ogunde titled K’EHIN S’OKUN. All three themes sang against Robbery,Armed Robbery, Car Jacking and stuffs like that. Babatunde Folorunso also known as Baba oni Lace and Ishola Oyenusi also Known as Doctor and their respective gangs will always come to mind as scape goats of that era. Ebenezer Obey sang about that incident too in Oro Nipa Lace. He emphasized that once you work hard and could afford to buy lace, why not? Wearing of lace fabric should not become a reason to be stigmatized or pointed at spitefully. ‘E wo ni ka laso nle ka ma lee woo jade B’obirin ba wo lace won l’aya Babatunde B’okunrin ba wo lace won a ni Folorunso E ma foju buruku wo oni’lace Eni to ja’le Iyen lo ye ka ba wi’ Today, corruption, embezzlement, diversification of funds, money trafficking and others like that are equal to armed robbery because the money meant to save lives and give good meaning to the livelihood of ordinary citizens are being forcefully taken away with such names mentioned above. Robbery is robbery. Armed robbery is armed robbery. It doesn’t matter if the thief is armed with a gun or with a pen. Salawu Woro gives a clear message in this song, telling the story of how Babatunde Folorunso snatched a car at gunpoint and how he and his gang eventually were tied to barrels, backing the Bar beach and taking in hot bullets to their chests precisely on the 24th of April , 1971. Oyenusi and his gang were executed on the 8th of September, 1971. May the artistic soul of Late Salawu Woro, the famous Idofian Apala singer continue to Rest In Peace.
