Bodycam video from a Greenwood County traffic stop is now central to a federal civil rights lawsuit filed by Bryan Joseph Getchius, who says deputies arrested him on fentanyl and cocaine charges even after identifying his pills as prescription medication. According to the lawsuit, deputies relied on presumptive field tests during the May 2024 stop, while later testing by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) found the pills and powder contained only Dicyclomine — a legal prescription medication. Getchius spent time in jail, months on house arrest, and remained under felony prosecution until the charges were dismissed.
