International Sniper Competition 2023

The annual Defence Forces International Sniper Competition took place in the Glen of Imaal, Co. Wicklow in 2023. 17 teams participated in the competition in 2023 with six International teams coming from Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Malta, Netherlands and the United States. The competition is designed to test tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and in doing so collaboratively compare Irish Defence Forces TTPs with our International partners over a four day competition. During the competition participants were exercised in a number of events/stands including Insertion, Map reading, Judging distance, Observation, Pistol shooting, Know your weapon limits, Rifle shooting, Sniper race & Biathalon, Casualty evacuation, Timed Stalk, Urban environment shoot, Unfamiliar weapon shoot, Vehicle contact, broken sight test, unknown distance shoot and the longest shot. The overall winners of the competition were the 27 Infantry Battalion, while Denmark were the highest scoring International team.
