The IS-1 in War Thunder is a Russian Heavy tank that doesn't really get the love it deserves. It's got a decent gun but its armour is pretty poor given the number of vehicles added over the years. The IS-1 Heavy Tank is more of a punching bag at its battle rating these days. To give you an idea, this thing sits on par with the diabolically unbalanced EBR. The IS-1 has some great armour, the only issue is that the places where it has poor armour, it really suffers. The IS-1 has only 100mm of armour on its turret cheeks meaning it can be destroyed easily by most opponents well below its battle rating. However, if you wiggle the Russian IS1 Tank, it can cause a lot of problems for lesser experienced foes.
