The International Sculpture Center awarded its 21st Annual Lifetime Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture award to Fernando Botero on October 26, 2012. To learn more about this event, visit our website: https://sculpture.org/page/laa-past#2012 Fernando Botero is a renowned Colombian painter and sculptor known for his volumetric stylization of figures and objects. His oeuvre ranges in subject matter such as daily life in Colombia, art historical references like the Mona Lisa, and abuses of power—all unified by Botero’s exaggeratedly rotund figures. Botero currently lives and works between Paris, France, New York, NY, and Tuscany, Italy. The International Sculpture Center is supported by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts and by funds from the National Endowment for the Arts.
