Zaine Griff performing with Tony Visconti, the David Bowie producer, who produced Zaine Griff’s first album Ashes And Diamonds in 1979. In the song The Scandinavian Tony Visconti plays bass, just like he did on Zaine Griff’s album. Performed 18 may 2018 - London. Between the David Bowie albums Lodger and Scary Monsters & Super Creeps the famous producer Tony Visconti produced the debut album of Zaine Griff, a young New Romantic singer then living in England, who had a band with musicians that all got their own careers afterwards: Warren Cann (of Ultravox), Hans Zimmer (now the world’s most famous and Oscar winning film soundtrack composer), Steve ‘Boltz’ Bolton (The Who and others), Clive Edwards (UFO, Pat Travers, Wild Horses, Thin Lizzy). In this performance: Zaine Griff - vocals Steve ‘Boltz’ Bolton - guitar Tony Visconti - bass guitar Clive Edwards - drums Ian Raines - backing vocals (bass in other tracks) Vanessa Lewendon - keyboard & synthesizers During the recording of Zaine’s first album Ashes And Diamonds - autumn 1979 - David Bowie walked in and recorded three recordings of his songs together with Zaine Griff and his band: the ‘acoustic’ 1979 Space Oddity, the totally new version of Panic In Detroit (added to David Bowie albums Scary Monsters ánd later again to Reality as bonus track) and a new Rebel Rebel version, all produced by Tony Visconti. Zaine Griff was wellknown in the early Eighties New Wave/New Romantic scene in London and worked with Ultravox, Gary Numan, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Manfred Mann and Kate Bush. Synthesizer/computer genius Hans Zimmer also played on Zaine Griff’s 2nd album FIGVRES - which is seen as one of the iconic albums of the New Romantic period, together with Zaine’s first album Ashes And Diamonds. Kate Bush sings a duet with Zaine Griff in the song Flowers, on Zaine’s 2nd album Figvres. Zaine Griff also sings on albums of Gary Numan (Beserker) and of Yukihiro Takahashi of YMO (What Me Worry?) where he sings his own composition This Strange Obsession. In recent years Zaine released 5 interesting new albums: Child Who Wants The Moon (2011) The Visitor (2013) Immersed (unreleased demo’s and outtakes - 2014) Mood Swings (2016) Special remastered 2CD rerelease of Ashes And Diamonds and Figvres with 23 bonus tracks and detailed information in Collectors Premium series of MIG-Records, Germany.
