This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Can we use non-traditional methods to transmit development messages? Eliana La Ferrara illustrates the role of commercial television in promoting development Eliana La Ferrara is Professor of Development Economics at Bocconi University of Milan. She holds a PhD in Economics from Harvard University. She has been Visiting Professor at MIT and in several European Universities. She is member of important international research networks and worked as a consultant for the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank. She carries our research activities focus on social aspects of development, such as ethnic identity, social norms, conflict and the role of media. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
