I originally recorded this video on 8/19/2024 and completely forgot to upload it. Just a quick build video of how to make Cloud absolutely overpowered in FFVII Rebirth. Materia and gear are listed below. The (+) denotes the Materia are linked. This video demonstrates the build using Lightning as the main elemental Materia, but the build is meant to function with any element the situation calls for. Equipment: Genji Gloves Weapon: Rune Blade Weapon Materia: Elemental + Fire and Ice OR Lightning and Wind ATB Boost, Magic Up First Strike, Precision Defense Focus Armor: Cetran Bracer Armor Materia: Swiftcast + PRIMARY ELEMENTAL FOCUS Magic Focus + PRIMARY ELEMENTAL FOCUS MP Absorb + PRIMARY ELEMENTAL FOCUS HP Absorb + Enemy Skill Weapon Skills: Full Power Magic, Improved Punisher, Magic Attack Power +20, ATB Charge Rate Up Summon: Gilgamesh Cloud is often the most player controlled character so the build is centered around constant offensive pressure and self sustainability. There's a few instances where Cloud is fighting solo, but when prepped correctly he can survive on his own just fine. After accessing every enemy in the game I can confirm the vast majority of enemies, 72 to be precise, are weak to Fire and the ones that are immune or can absorb that element are weak to one of the other three. There are going to be many instances where you'll want to prioritize empowering a specific element, especially in the Chadley combat challenges, but outside of those specific instances Fire is your best bet most of the time. All-in-all this can get you through everything in the main game with maybe throwing the Elemental Materia down to an armor slot to absorb Fire and Ice damage which is useful for some of the legendary bouts. Enemy Skill gives several great stat increases, but more importantly it grants access to some useful utilities. Sonic Boom is a projectile that does Wind damage, but when used it also applies Bravery and Faith for a short while which increases Cloud's physical and magic damage output. This stacks with Prime Mode's Berserk buff so keeping both active should be on of your main focuses in longer fights. Plasma Discharge triggers an AOE EMP each time you get ATB and does Lightning Damage. Once cast it will remain active for the entire fight. Utilizing these enemy skills is also how Cloud passively heals himself. After getting the Genji Gloves in Hard Mode you can easily exceed the damage cap with Lvl.3 magic, and if you're in an Arcane Ward everything pretty much gets nuked. Since you get get the Genji Gloves until you're part way through your second playthrough just equip anything that benefits magic power like the Space Ranger Medal Of Honor or Enhanced Psychic's Charm. For his weapon I use the Rune Blade for its Full Power Magic stat. It gives 10% extra magic damage at full MP, and with these really high damage numbers you fully recover all your MP with every Firaga. The key to Cloud's survivability relies on staying in the enemy's face and parrying in between attacks. Precision Defense Focus gives you a bigge window to hit your perfect parries and negate incoming damage. I don't use Steadfast Block on Cloud because his Punisher/Prime Mode parries aren't considered true guards for some reason so they don't get any of the ATB benefits. ATB Boost helps you take the initiative as it doubles the amount of ATB you currently have. and it can be reused every 60 seconds. Couple that with First Strike and you can start every fight with two full ATB bars to either insta-case Lvl.3 magic or install your buffs. The only downside I've found to this build is you sometimes forget to use the other characters since is quickly becomes a "F" train with no brakes...
