Lathisms Lecture: Journey through mathematics into Navy Research.

Speaker: Dr. Darleen Perez-Lavin Darleen's pure math journey began after working in construction management for some years. After receiving her Masters in Applied Math, she studied number theory with Dr. David Leep at the University of Kentucky (UK). During her time at UK, she spent a summer at Fermi National Labs and was awarded the SMART Fellowship to work with a Navy research facility. During the past two years at the Naval Information Research Center, Darleen has done research in optimization problems using classical and machine learning methods to solve naval applications. In this talk, Darleen will discuss her journey through academia that took her into her current position and discuss some active projects within her portfolio.
