I Drove an F1 Car...Slowly!! Jordan EJ12 Driving Experience. On a cold and rainy day in May this year I got an opportunity to tick of something major on the bucket list - A chance to drive a real Formula 1 car. The car is based at 'Driftlimits' which is based in Southern England not too far from London. (Website Below). The interesting thing was there was a few Caveats... You have to be under 6ft 2 in height and under 13 stone to drive the car.... I was on the limit with the height, and at the time I received my ‘ticket’ over a stone heavier than I needed to be! So to get ready for the drive was a challenge in itself. Cue 3 months of exercise and dieting! There are two options – The pace car experience, or the more expensive ‘full’ experience. I went for the pace car option as my goal was to simply experience and drive a real F1 car. Lets face it the ‘boat’ for becoming a professional racing driver has long since sailed for me so I don’t need to be going anywhere fast! And if you go for the full experience the chances of you ‘binning’ the car and having to pay a huge waiver are quite high! The car itself is amazing. How anyone would allow their precious race chassis F1 car to be driven by the public I’ll never know – But they do! This chassis was originally raced in the 2002 season by Takuma Sato – Following the season it spent years in a private collection, where the (Now missing ) Mugen Honda was replaced by a Judd V8 pushing out around 600bhp (Still not too shabby but it doesn’t have the V10 Scream any more. To make matters somewhat worse due to noise complaints from the ‘Karen’ neighbours who have moved next door to a live racetrack, Driftlimits have had to put additional silencers on their loud vehicles to appease the neighbours! Ever seen a quiet F1 car before? Have a look at the photos at the end of this video! Anyhow it was an amazing experience and if your goal is to sit in and drive a real F1 car on a track I would definitely recommend this! Thank you for watching.
