TOO LOUD! MTD Yardman DX70 exhaust replacement

This MTD Yardman was far too loud so I fitted a new exhaust. This video shows you how I did it so you can do the same to yours if it also has a noise problem. It's an old MTD Yard-man DX70 with a Briggs & Stratton 190000 series engine. The exact engine code is 198707-0141-E1. This one has now been retired from lawn cutting duties but it is still used quite a lot around to garden to transport things. It had become really noisy and it was time to do something about that. The video shows removing the rear section of chassis to improve access to the exhaust. The machine featured here had some extra modifications fitted by the owner so they had to be removed too. With the muffler in view I doused the bolts in penetrating fluid as I expected them to be difficult. As things turned out, they came out really easily. I cleaned up the exhaust gasket mating surface, then fitted the new exhaust with new bolts and lock tab. Finally a variable position deflector was fitted to direct the exhaust gas out to the side, between the upper and lower body sections.
