That is, vyaktha can never worship avyaktha. Vyaktha can never worship avyaktha. That's why, it is impossible, it is very difficult to worship this Nirgunam. Paramatma has clearly demarcated. So here, there is some more deeper meaning in it. Because we are with the sense of body, we will feel that the God is also with the body. Because we are having mind, this mind always will try to create God as a shape and name. But, Paramatma says: I am unmanifested. But these ignorant, less intelligent people, they are going on worshipping me as shape and they are disrespecting me. So, Parmatma is scolding people, who are doing this worship, thinking that I am the body. But, what about the people, who are having body sense, initially they will worship God as shape only. But, if you do Sadhana, and if you are go on doing upwards, when you are going upwards and withdrawing the life force upwards, you will be going on loosing the body sense. When the body sense is lost, you will come to know that the God is not the body, not the shape, but God is the divine light. That is the meaning underlining in this Sagunopasana. Sagunopasana means, initially you may be having, you may be worshipping the God as shape, but gradually even be devoid of this body, understanding and you will come to know that God is nothing but divine light. Here, there are another steps. In Sagunopasana there are four steps to Salvation. These are called, called Saalokya, Saameepya, Saaroopya, Saayujyas. Saalokya means seeing; Saameepya means going nearer to; Saaroopya means becoming equal; and Saayujya means merging with each other. These are the four steps. But a practical Yogi can feel first he will go nearer to him. When he is going upwards, going upwards is called Saameepyam, when he is going nearer to the Brumadhyam, he will see the divine light. Then, seeing divine light is called Saalokyam. First Saameepyam, then Saalokyam. After seeing divine light he goes on increasing, by seeing this divine light much more, then samyak: In the 8th chapter Lord Sri Krishna said, if you go on doing this Sadhana, he will be going on seeing the divine light much more and then you will come to a stage that whatever you see outside, whatever you see inside, they are equal. They are one and the same. That then, you will come to that stage that Saaroopyam. And ultimately he will become one with each other. That means, one with each other means, he will withdraw everything, what ever you have come outside, you will withdraw inside and you will become what you are. That is this Saayujyam. These are only possible by doing Yoga Sadhana only, that is called Sagunopasana. In that way Paramatma has clearly demarcated between the Nirgunopasana and Sagunopasana. atha chittam samaadhaatum na shaknoshi mayi sthiram abhyaasayogena tato maamichchhaaptum dhananjaya .. 12-9 Now Paramatma is stressing again. Suppose, if you are not directly capable of keeping your mind and intellect within me, you first do Yogam, then only keep your mind. So for an ordinary man, not only an ordinary man any being who is born on this earth, should do like this only. Ch.12 Slokam 12: shreyo hi jnyaanamabhyaasaat jnyaanaaddhyaanam vishishyate dhyaanaatkarmaphalatyaagah’ tyaagaachchhaantiranantaram .. 12-12 Abhyaasam means practice. What practice? That is, say for example, this Yoga Sadhana only. - that means, without knowledge about God, simply doing any Sadhana, including Yoga Sadhana is not better. Knowing about God is much better than doing the Sadhana. So, first you have to do is, know something about God. That is Atma jnyanam. That's why, Paramatma in the sixth chapter used to say : One should have both Jnyanam and Vijnyanam. First you should have Jnyanam and then Vijnyanam. These two things will be available at the Gurus. That's why you approach a Guru. They will be having both theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge also. So, prior to getting initiated, you must have some theoretical knowledge also. So, after getting initiated, you have to keep and you have to continue this theoretical knowledge also. Simultaneously you have to know both Yogam and Shastra Jnyanam also. #antarmukhananda #Sagunopasana #Shiva
