The Hermitage is well known for it's stunning autumn foliage, which i've tried to capture here. I was tempted to call this video "Scotland in the Fall", but stuck to my roots and went with Autumn. There is a large car park at the beginning of the walk, which is frequented by a Doughnut van; high calorie snacks at the end (or start) of long walks seem well justified, though on this occasion I didn't partake. This stretch along the river takes in some stunning waterfalls, and then splits into a couple of different routes. The route taken goes past Ossians Cave, the occasional dwelling of the hermit from which the Hermitage derives its name, at about 22 minutes in (if i'm not mistaken). The walk is pretty popular; on most of my walks I tend to encounter a solitary gent and hound, but on this stroll there's probably about 15 people all in; and an assortment of content canines. As ever, I try to keep noise to a minimum so you can enjoy the binaural audio. There is light rain for most of the walk, which is audible with my trusty umbrella. Towards the end of the walk there is some white water, at a point aptly named "rumbling bridge". After the bridge I go a little off piste, as seems typical, and I end up stuck, up a creek, without a paddle. There is a good route from rumbling bridge back down to the Hermitage, which I didn't have the energy to film. And yes, maybe if i'd bought a doughnut I would have. Next time I shall. Enjoy the video. COPYRIGHT © All videos and audio on the Sublime Stroll channel are copyrighted. Reuse is not permitted.
