Listen to the single 🎧 https://ErlandCooper.lnk.to/MFGFPt1ID The original version of Music For Growing Flowers was written to help 20 million wild flowers grow for an exhibition in the moat of the tower of London. This new nocturnal version, arranged over a period of winter hibernation, is inspired by or evocative of the night. Whilst not strictly a piano moment, I hope it remains as dreamy, contemplative and melancholic as the french namesake - perhaps just simply belonging to the night. It’s an ambient tapestry that focuses on the voice, harp and other soporific elements. I often feel winter is a good reminder that deep under cold soil, the roots of plants are working hard in renewal and growth for spring blossom. Below my layers of sound, a keen ear will spot that I recorded my own heart beat and breathing. I read that listening to a resting heart beat can encourage calm and a sort of unison. Consider this a sonic experiment, I hope it’s not too distracting. The cover art is the first, single bud of a new magnolia tree planted some years ago. After the darkness of winter, it brings forth colour, beauty and light. It reminds me of a quote by artist Georgia O’Keeffe. "Nobody sees a flower, really, it is so small, we haven't time, and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time.. I decided that if I could paint that flower in a huge scale, you could not ignore its beauty"—Georgia O'Keeffe Sign up to receive the latest news and updates straight from Erland’s studio: https://erlandcooper.lnk.to/NewsletterID Follow Erland Cooper: Facebook: / erlandcooper Instagram: / erlandcooper TikTok: / erlandcooper #modernclassical #erlandcooper #musicforgrowingflowers #nocturne
