I took a night bus from Kathmandu at 7 pm, available from the New Bus Park - you can book through this number: 9851093998. I paid NPR 1500, and the seat was comfortable like a sofa. I reached the Sonauli border in the morning around 7 am, and from there, you can get a sharing car to Gorakhpur for IC 500/600. While crossing the border, you need to show a Nepali ID, which can be a citizenship card or Nepali ID card, and you need to register your name at the desk. The process will take no more than 1 minute if the crowd is less. After reaching Gorakhpur, I took a government bus to Varanasi, which cost IC 340. It took around 7/8 hours to reach Varanasi as it's a public bus. The bus leaves in every 30 minutes. An additional option is to book a train from Gorakhpur to Varanasi, but pre-booking is required, and if you get a train, it's the best option. Before going to Varanasi, I booked a hostel from booking.com. I stayed in a hostel for 3 nights and paid 1390 IC for 3 nights, which was cheap and affordable. For girls, there are hostels with girls' dorm rooms. The hostel I stayed in was near the ghat, which made it comfortable for me to explore around Varanasi. https://maps.app.goo.gl/i3ya45Upp7sUc... Things to do in Varanasi: 1. Attend the morning Aarti at Aashi Ghat at 5:30 am. 2. Explore the Ganga in a sharing boat, which will cost IC 100. 3. Visit Manikarnika Ghat. 4. Watch the evening Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat at 6 pm. 5. Visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, which is a main attraction. 6. Explore the Kal Bhairav Temple. 7. Visit Sarnath, which is one of the popular Buddhist places. There is an option of a direct flight from Kathmandu to Varanasi and vice versa by Buddha Air. The flight is scheduled once a week, so do contact them for further details. While returning i took a train from Vanarasi to gorakpur and i asked my hostel mates who was from india to book the train. I booked the general one which cost 456 IC. It took around 5hours in a train which was comfortable. After i reached gorakpur station you can find alots of car drivers searching for passenger to take to the sonauli border where i paid 500 IC. after i reached sonauli border i took taxi to bhairawha airport then took domestic flight from there to ktm in a same day.
