We sit by the pool, and I continue reading The Angel Tree by Lucinda Riley. In the evening, we learn a new card game. Sunday: We take a ‪@tuiukholidays‬ tour around the island; we learn that growing bananas is the main industry on the island, and the area is unspoiled by tourism, with just five big hotels on the island. The tour climbed a mountain, taking us to 7000 ft. The views were magnificent, and we were higher than the clouds. We check out the observatories and telescopes on the mountain before visiting the new visitor centre. As the day continued, we visited a farmers’ market and then stopped for coffee. I tried Canarian Coffee, which had condensed milk, alcohol, coffee, cinnamon and lime. We saw the devastation the 2021 volcano had caused and saw the lava flow before we returned to the hotel. A Tour of the North East of The Island |Las Palma | Daily Vlog | Tues 7th Jan (2025) We went on another incredible excursion to the lush northeast of La Palma, which was booked through Tui Our guide, Rudi, shares his unrivalled knowledge of the island as we discover some of its most breathtaking highlights. We strolled along the volcanic shoreline at Charco Azul, where the natural pools carved out by lava glistened in the sunlight. Breathing in the fresh Atlantic air, we soaked up the serene beauty of this unique spot. Next, we visited one of the island’s last remaining traditional distilleries. Here, we sampled some of the finest local rum, and I couldn’t resist a sip from a €250 bottle—it was incredible and worth every luxurious drop! Our adventure also included a stop at the San Bartolo viewpoint, offering panoramic views of the dramatic coastline, lush green landscapes, and a true sense of La Palma’s beauty.
