Pike Place Market is located in the heart of Downtown Seattle, Washington. This historic farmer's market, established in 1907, is one of the oldest continuously operated public farmers' markets in the US. The market spans 9 acres and is home to a diverse array of vendors, including local farmers, artisans, and merchants. Visitors can explore a variety of shops, restaurants, bakeries, fish markets, butcher shops, produce stands, flower stands and specialty food stores. Pike Place Market in Seattle is renowned for its lively atmosphere and unique traditions, one of which is the famous fish throwing at Pike Place Fish Market. The tradition began in the early 1980s and has since become a beloved ritual. The fishmongers, with their loud chants and precise throwing, toss the fish in the air between them as they fill the orders. The Gum Wall is a unique and colorful local landmark in Seattle. Located in Post Alley, just beneath the Pike Place Market itself, this wall is covered with pieces of chewing gum left by visitors. It began in the 1990s when patrons of Unexpected Productions' theater started sticking gum to the wall, and over time, it has transformed into a mosaic of thousands of gum pieces. The first Starbucks store, established in 1971, is a landmark situated in Seattle's historic Pike Place Market. This iconic location at 1912 Pike Place is renowned for being the birthplace of the now-global coffee brand. The store has retained much of its original charm and continues to attract visitors from around the world, not just for its coffee but also as a piece of living history.
