Kuthiramalika Palace Thiruvananthapuram | One Minute Travel Facts

Kuthiramalika Palace is a palace built by Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma. The Word Kuthiramalika in Local language means Palace of Horses. Kuthiramalika is located on the South Eastern Side of PadmanabhaSwamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. The palace got its name from the 122 horses that are carved into the wooden wall bracket that support the southern roof. The official name of the palace is Puthan Malika (New Mansion) Built in 1840, Kuthiramalika is an example of Traditional Kerala Architecture. A portion of the Kuthiramalika is converted to a Palace Museum that houses some of the assets owned by the Travancore Royal Family. Although 80 rooms are available, only 20 are open to visitors. A guided tour is available inside the Palace. Photography is not allowed inside the Kuthiramalika Palace.
