Day 24 (Sep 7) Drive of 330km to Almaty (Kazakhstan) crossing China border at Korgos. One participant leaves the group immediately after entering Kazakhstan and our organiser also leaves the group in night after we reach the apartments. He does not stay with the group nor he puts in the group what’s app chat what are his intentions. We start from Hotel Vienna at 10am and drive to customs and immigration and it takes almost 5 hours to clear through Chinese immigration and then another 2 hours to get through Kazakhstan immigration. You need car RC and your passport and that is all is required for Indians. No money was required to be paid on either side. A little on border can sometime make things a little faster. The time difference was 2 hours less at Kazakh side as compared to China and it is 30 min ahead of India. The convey stopped for lunch after hitting the highway on Kazakh side and I saw one participant speeding away in his car and he was not seen thereafter. In all probability he was in touch with organiser and they took some conscious decision, as the organiser too went away at night after showing the place where all were to stay. That was nice of him to wait at the parking of apartments for all of us to reach. Then he went away without informing on the group. He perhaps has told some that he is staying with his friend that obviously all can guess. As it was already very late there was so much confusion as to which apartment to go. The one I was given they had put 5 with very tiny beds and one washroom. We were lucky to hire another one for 2 of us for $40. That way 3 were left in one and that will be manageable.
