Motivating Physical Activity Behaviour: How do we separate fact from fiction? Speaking at the Alberta Centre for Active Living's annual Physical Activity Forum in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Dr. Philip M. Wilson suggests that the some of the "best" motives for physical activity and exercise are when people feel good about themselves and what they are doing, when they are in charge of their lives, and when they take part in activities with other people. Dr. Wilson talks about separating "fact from fiction" in relation to motivational theory, presents a range of relevant research, and sheds light on the effectiveness of different motivational approaches in boosting or maintaining physical activity. Dr. Wilson is the Co-Director of the Behavioural Health Sciences Research Lab at Brock University in St. Catherines, Ontario.
