How I fixed my black-screen-with-audio startup issue: Went to the game install folder Opened Binaries/SETTINGS/TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML in Notepad Changed the value in the "FullScreen" property tag from "true" to "false" Changed the value in the "Borderless" property tag from "false" to "true" ------ How I fixed my horrendous jerky-rendering issue: Updated to newest graphics drivers In the in-game options menu, changed the FPS cap from 30 to "Max" ------ How I restarted the playthrough from scratch: Right-clicked No Man's Sky in the Steam Library. Chose "Properties". In the "Updates" tab, unticked the option for Steam Cloud synchronisation. In Windows Explorer, went to %appdata%/HelloGames/NMS and deleted the folder with the long alphanumeric name. Before quitting the game, alt-tabbed out and re-enabled the Steam Cloud, so the fresh save would be uploaded on exit. ------ "No Man's Sky" is © 2016 Hello Games Ltd.
