Around 2:06 AM on July 25, 2024, Deputy Hunter Manns with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office observed a white 2003 Chevrolet sedan driving without headlights at the intersection of Tuskawilla Road and Winter Springs Boulevard. He began following the driver and initiated a traffic stop just before the intersection of Winter Springs Boulevard and Benchwood Drive in Winter Springs. He exited the vehicle and made contact with the driver of the Chevrolet, who was identified as 26-year-old Madisyn Earnest. As he was speaking with Madisyn, he detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. She told the Deputy that she was coming from Flanagan’s Sports Pub in Winter Springs, and admitted to consuming 2 margaritas earlier that evening after leaving work at Buffalo Wild Wings. Based on his suspicion of impairment, Madisyn was asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises after Deputy Harden arrived on scene. Deputy Manns started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. During the HGN test, Deputy Manns observed the lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and the onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees. He also observed vertical nystagmus. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Madisyn did not touch heel-to-toe on each step and took an incorrect number of steps. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test. During the One Leg Stand test, Madisyn failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and ended the exercise at a count of approximately 21 seconds when the 30-second timer had elapsed. Based on the odor of alcohol, her admission to consuming alcohol earlier that evening, and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, Deputy Manns told Madisyn that she was being placed under arrest for DUI. After she was placed under arrest, she told the Deputy that there was a Ruger 380 inside the glove compartment. Her mother was called to the scene to retrieve her vehicle. Madisyn was transported to the John E. Polk Correctional Facility for further processing. At the jail, she agreed to submit breath samples. Her breath test results indicated BAC levels of 0.116% and 0.110%, which were over the legal limit of 0.08%. She was charged with a DUI (316.193.1c) and eventually released on a $500 bond pending her court appearance. ---------------------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting this channel (email us for more information).
