This is the first movement of String Quintet No. 4: The Marree Sisters by Robbie James, released through ABC Classic Australia. It is performed by Bentley String Quintet. The Marree Sisters follows the lives of five women (the composer's own mother and aunts) in their journey as teenagers from the tiny outback town of Marree on Kuyani country in South Australia to the city of Adelaide. The music unfolds depicting the stark landscapes surrounding the small community of European settlers, First Nations Peoples and Afghan cultures on the edge of the Simpson Desert.
