Metsä Group's wood procurement organization is a close-knit group of enthusiastic forestry professionals who play a key role in combatting climate change. Forest specialists are responsible for wood sales, forest services sales and a good customer experience in their area of responsibility. They actively liaise with forest owners and plan forest management and felling operations for them, taking into account biodiversity and occupational safety. They advise forest owners on all aspects of managing their forest assets. The job requires ability to make decisions. Work in the office and in the forest is independent and very varied, and no two days are the same. However, it is not a lonely job, it’s collaboration with forest owners and many forest professionals working in different roles. The operations specialists are responsible for either harvesting or forest management in their respective areas of responsibility. The operations specialists provide guidance and supervision to our contractors - together ensuring a good work quality for forest owners. The operations specialists ensure that biodiversity is taken into account during forestry work and are also responsible for occupational safety on the work sites. This work is also very independent and well organized, but it also requires the ability to react to changes, such as changing natural conditions. In this role, you get to work with a wide range of forestry professionals in different roles.
