Welcome back to our outdoor laboratory, Simple-Earth! In this episode, we make some strides in preparing for the new cabin. First, we secure some chemical anchors on the completed piers and precisely measure out the sill beams. Our trusty TLB visits, saving us some back-breaking work by transporting soil to the pier foundation area, though I still need to manually spread and compact it. Getting the backfill done, before we start on the building is key (access reasons) We also take the first steps for our main cabin build by measuring and clearing a designated area. As a bonus, the TLB helps us initiate regeneration efforts at the “clay mine,” where we aim to capture water runoff, topsoil, and seeds to (start, at least) rejuvenate the land. Join us for episode 2, in this series of building the bigger picture on homestead. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more updates on our self-sufficient farm journey!
