James Dickey was a professor at the University of South Carolina. Among his published accomplishments was a book in 1968 entitled "Deliverance". Two years later a movie starring Burt Reynolds was released by the same name. Who can ever forget the "Dueling Banjos" ? The movie also had a co-star named Herbert "Cowboy" Coward, one of the famous western gunfighters at Ghost Town in the Sky, in Maggie Valley, NC.
