Hyperlexia: my experience

Hyperlexia is the precocious and self-taught ability to read, usually before the age of 4, and sometimes as early as 18 months - 2 years. This is my experience of being an early reader (though undiagnosed), as well as my observations about my son, who is coming up to 3, and on track to read in a similar timeframe to me. Autism and early reading don't always go together, but there is some overlap. Please note: I am not an educational professional, and if you have concerns about your child, please ask one!
