From Dust to Light: The Story of a Miracle” is an urban regeneration project conceived and carried out by the La Staffetta ETS Cultural Association, in memory of Paolo Veraldi. The work recounts, through painting and oncial calligraphy, the true story of the Madonna of Comfort (Madonna del Conforto), an iconic and spiritual figure of reference for the entire Arezzo community. The panels were entirely conceived, designed, and hand-painted, with gold leaf finishes, following the techniques of the artistic tradition. The project, developed over the course of one full year, was supervised and approved by the Superintendence and the Episcopal Curia, and carried out in collaboration with students from the schools of Arezzo: ITIS Galileo Galilei, Istituto Tecnico Professionale Margaritone, and the Piero della Francesca Art High School, as well as students involved through the Erasmus+ program in cooperation with OpenCom. The various operational phases were conceived, coordinated, and executed by restorer Laura Ghezzi, with the executive support of restoration technician Laura Folli; the calligraphy was created by calligrapher Adele Boriosi; architect Roberto Felici managed and carried out all bureaucratic procedures, overseeing relations with the relevant institutions. The pictorial cycle, donated to the city of Arezzo, was made possible thanks to the essential support of the sponsors: Banca di Anghiari e Stia, Chimet, Estra, Sandy, SemAr, Verespresso, and the technical partners Atam, Tintoretto, Rotary Club Arezzo, PM Allarmi. Special thanks are extended to the UNESCO Club of Arezzo for the recognition awarded to the project. The project was patronaged and carried out in collaboration with the Episcopal Curia, the Diocese of Arezzo, the Municipality of Arezzo, and the Arezzo InTour Foundation.
