Nathan Law from Lansdowne, Semington, has been jailed for a year following a road pursuit through Melksham, during which the 42-year-old drove at excess speed, performed dangerous overtakes, drove the wrong way around roundabouts and head on into the path of members of the public. On Wednesday, 7 May, Law failed to stop for officers earlier in the day and his black Vauxhall Astra was lost to sight. Shortly afterwards, the vehicle was located by the Roads Policing Unit on Pathfinder Way in Melksham where again he made off from police. The pursuit eventually stopped following contact between the Astra and a police vehicle. Law was arrested at the scene and charged with dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance. Appearing before Swindon Magistrates Court, Law pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment. He was also disqualified from driving for five years, five months and 28 days with a requirement to pass an extended driving test and must pay a £187 surcharge. PC Ben Greening of Wiltshire Police's Roads Policing Unit said: "This was some of the most shocking and dangerous driving that I have witnessed in my 11 years of policing. "His reckless behaviour showed absolutely no regard for the safety of members of the public and he was only brought to a halt following robust action on the part of pursuing officers. "We are determined to tackle such offenders and bring them before the courts." #wiltshire #police #pursuit #driving
