Using plans found online, I built a propane forge that works very well and I give you all the specifics for parts and materials to build your own. A few things I'd do different, 1. make the piece for the door smaller. 2. Just add some 1/2 inch holes to the burner immediately, they are needed for airflow. I ordered the 2 inch thick x 2 ft x 5 ft piece of Inswool, the 10 lbs of Satanite, and the 1/2 pint of ITC-100 from http://www.hightemptools.com/supplies... Items purchased from Ace Hardware- For the Burner I used a 12 inch piece of 3/4 inch black pipe, (6 1/2 inch drilled in the gas supply end.) 2 reducers, 1 inch to 3/4, (grind or turn threads from large ends, 1 each 41176 3/8 flare nipple 1 each, 1/4 pipe nipple 3 1/2 inches long. The "nipple" looks like a 1/2 inch OD pine to me. 1 each 1/4 hex cap (for 3/12 inch nipple.) Pipe sealant for gas lines 1 each .035 mig welding tip.
