Major TRU progress continues across Baker Viaduct, Ravensthorpe, Heaton Lodge and Huddersfield, including span load transfer works and fast line formation toward Dewsbury. The video also covers the newly opened recycling centre built to accommodate viaduct construction and ongoing bridge, piling and groundworks activity. The TRU West Alliance has completed and opened a new recycling centre for Kirklees Council and SUEZ, allowing operations to continue while the Baker Viaduct progresses. Part of the former site sits within the alignment of the new viaduct. A retaining wall is now under construction to support the structure and facilitate the formation of the future fast lines from Dewsbury toward Huddersfield. The contrast between the existing tight curve and the new Baker Viaduct alignment highlights how journey times will improve once the scheme is complete. At Ravensthorpe, early concrete wall sections are now visible following removal of initial formwork, and the former station footbridge has been removed. At Heaton Lodge, reinforcement mesh is in place ahead of the next slab pour, while the new Heaton Curve becomes increasingly visible in the cutting. This alignment will allow express services to pass through at significantly higher speeds. Bridge and road works continue across the route, including groundworks at a replacement bridge site and trench backfilling during the Leeds Road weekend closure. At Huddersfield, span load transfer works are clearly visible. The deck appears to have been separated from the abutment, with weight now supported by temporary structures ahead of removal. In this video you’ll see: • Baker Viaduct fast line formation • Recycling centre relocation to enable construction • Ravensthorpe structural changes • Heaton Lodge curve and slab preparation • Replacement bridge groundworks • Huddersfield span load transfer activity This forms part of ongoing coverage of the TransPennine Route Upgrade (TRU) across West Yorkshire.
