G'day fellow Riders and this is it; the final boss of Monster Hunter Stories 2! It's time to face Oltura, the true owner of the Wings of Ruin! This is honestly one of the most majestic Elder Dragons in the entire series, this thing looks like a Xeno'Jiiva and a Namielle mated and the child was then raised and trained by an Alatreon! Read below if you want to know how to easily beat this guy, I do highly recommend that you make a separate save file before you fight this thing as the game never lets you fight it again! Do keep in mind that I was obscenely overlevelled at this point in the game so don't expect your first run to go as smoothly as this one did... with that out of the way, lets talk tactics! In Phase 1, Oltura will be a Technical Type and is weak to Dragon Element, I recommend bringing multiple of the same weapon with at least Thunder, Ice and Dragon as Oltura's elemental weaknesses change as he sprouts more wings, in my case I'm using the Gunlance but any weapon will suffice... After 2-3 turns, he will enrage and will switch to a Power Type Damage him enough and he will enter Phase 2, where he will sprout a second pair of wings, and will unleash Thunderblaze, which will knock everyone down to 1 HP, he stays a Power Type and will use Thunder and Fire Element attacks, he is highly resistant to those two elements but is weak to Ice and Water, hence the tip earlier about bringing more than 1 of the same weapon, he will also start attacking twice until one of his wings are broken A few turns after you break both wings, he will go into Phase 3, where he will whip out his third pair of wings, and will unleash Freezing Downpour, which will knock everyone down to 1 HP for a second time, Oltura then switches to being a Speed Type, he will use Water and Ice Element attacks and will be practically immune to those elements, he is weak to Fire and Thunder Element attacks, he will also attack twice until one of his wings are broken After that he will eventually shift into Phase 4, during which he will be cloaked in Dragon Energy, he will unleash Dragon Rage, which will knock everyone down to 1 HP... again! Oltura will then switch back to being a Technical Type and will now use Dragon Element attacks, all elements are effective but Dragon is his biggest weakness in this phase, in this phase he will attack 3 times in a row, and will keep doing so until both Rage Ray Wings are broken, so target them first When you've broken them and sufficiently damaged it, it will enter it's 5th and final phase, where Oltura will try to cast Luminosity, an incredibly powerful attack that deals OVER 9000 damage!! After you break both wings, the battle is won and Oltura will be defeated!! My Loadout: Lvl 47 Weapon 1: Ravenous Gunlance (Lvl Max) Weapon 2: Ukiro no Yamiwo (Lvl Max) Weapon 3: Verdant Rook (Lvl Max) Armour: Zinogre U Armour (Lvl Max) Talisman: Kinship (L) & Heat Res My Monsties: Ratha (Lvl 47) Green Nargacuga (Lvl 47) Tobi Kadachi (Lvl 47) Barioth (Lvl 47) Nergigante (Lvl 47) Mizutsune (Lvl 47) This fight is something truely special, I honestly wish that we could have Oltura as a Monstie, they even state that he is a "newborn" so it could be something as simple as shining our Kinship Stone in it's face, anyway that's all from me for now...
