Just two weeks before their wedding, Tijn and his fiancée Susie got news that changed everything — Tijn was diagnosed with stage 3 Burkitt Lymphoma. After coming to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for a more accurate diagnosis, Tijn learned that this fast-growing lymphoma needed to be treated right away. With the guidance of his doctor, Connie Lee Batlevi, MD, and the unwavering support of Susie, he began treatment and joined a clinical trial at MSK. Thanks to his care team, Tijn was cured. He and Susie were finally able to have their wedding the following year, and today they’re celebrating life with their young child.
