Total War: SHOGUN 2 2vs1: 2 Shimazu Heavy Gunners vs Line Infantry (FOTS) Clan: Shimazu vs Satsuma Battle Difficulty: normal *Shimazu Heavy Gunners: Fire by Rank ON. *Line Infantry: Kneel Fire ON. Shimazu Heavy Gunners fire bullets that not only kill their targets, but also knock over men that are in their way. This slows down targets as they need to stand back up and regroup every time they suffer a volley. While Shimazu Heavy Gunners deal unremarkable damage over time, especially considering their steep requirements, they can buy valuable time for other units to inflict kills or maneuver. Shimazu Heavy Gunners also deal very heavy damage to buildings, making them a powerful tool to use during siege battles. On the defense, the knock-back that Shimazu Heavy Gunners cause delays enemy units from climbing walls and capturing towers or gates, giving other units more time to deal damage. Shimazu Heavy Gunners can utilize Fire by Rank. While the ability is very slow and is usually inferior to the default firing mode among matchlock units, Fire by Rank for Shimazu Heavy Gunners can prolong the amount of time they can slow down and disrupt their targets. Shimazu Heavy Gunners are statistically near-identical to Matchlock Samurai. However, they have only 2/3rds of the men, and cost much more to train and maintain. Their steep requirements relegate them to the mid-late game at earliest. Line Infantry are the first line infantry-type unit available to most factions in FOTS, requiring only basic cadet schools to train. With much better accuracy and reload skill than levy infantry, line infantry are a considerable upgrade for early game armies looking for more firepower. Unfortunately, they fare poorly in melee combat, and operate best at a distance. Particularly in the early game, they benefit from having melee infantry or cavalry backing them up and intercepting hostile melee troops before they reach the firing line. Later in the game, line infantry are supplemented by other line infantry type units, such as Black Bear Infantry, Imperial Infantry, and Vermilion Bird Force. Nearly all these variants are more expensive to field, but are statistically superior to line infantry. However, with the help of foreign veteran agents, general skills, and building bonuses, line infantry are formidable even in the late game, able to lay down devastating fire and having sufficiently good melee skills should swords be drawn. Line infantry aren't considered Shogunate or Imperial infantry, meaning that they aren't automatically disbanded if the player declares independence. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ My Discord channel: / discord #TotalWar1vs1 #TotalWar #Shogun2
