In terms of changes to the endings often referred to as 'case edgings' or 'declension' of an ISM to reflect إِعْرَاب, in the ISM they are categorised as into two types: 1. مُعْرَبٌ - those that decline (show change at the end of the word) are of two types (i) Fully declinable (ii) Partly declinable 2. مَبْنِيٌّ - those that do not decline In terms of simplicity, we can treat them as 3 different groups: 1 مُنْصَرِفٌ Fully declinable 85% 2 غَيْرُ مُنْصَرِفٍ Partly declinable 13% 3 مَبْنِيٌّ Non delineable 2% 1. Munsarif مُنْصَرِفٌ fully declinable (changeable). They take tanween and have 3 different endings in the three different endings in إِعراب (rafa, nasab, and jarr) status, e.g., مُسْلِمٌ، مُسْلِمًا، مُسْلِمٍ. 2. Ghair غَيْرُ مُنْصَرِفٍ partially declinable (changeable). They do not take tanween تَنْوِيْن and do not take a kasrah كَسْرَة in jarr status for example إِبْرَاهِيْمُ، إِبْرَاهِيْمَ، إِبْرَاهِيْمَ (رَفْع is with dhammah, but نَصَب & جَرّ both end with fatha فَتْحَة. 2. Mabni مَبْنِيٌّ not declinable (changeable). These words never change they are always the same in all 3 إعْرَاب i.e. رَفْع، نَصْبٌ، جَرٌّ. Beyond this we have the special cases for example: 1. The duals 2. The Sound Masculine Plurals 3. The Sound feminine plurals 4. Pronouns 5.
