Ausgrid's Trevor Armstrong says "it is not an issue" the New South Wales government rejected military assistance to restore power to customers, insisting his organisation "is more than capable" of the clean-up effort. An extra 100 personnel were deployed by Ausgrid to assist the 600 SES workers already working to remove debris. "We've got the extra support and are pleased the government responded by helping us out with the SES," Mr Armstrong said. "The difficulty we've got is the number of trees that are down, not just on power lines, but on homes, roads and driveways," he said. Mr Armstrong said "118,000 customers have had their power restored" with 22,000 homes to have power back by Sunday. Image: News Corp Australia
