This video is about Painting Bravo III Outdrive - Dec 2014. When I purchased the boat the drives were badly corroded. Over the winter I am having some work done to one drive, with the drive off I took the opportunity to deal with the corrosion. The drive was sanded down (mostly with a 5" orbital sander) using 220 grit aluminum oxide paper. The bare aluminum was treated with Alumiprep (to stop the corrosion and brighten) and then covered with Alodine (to protect the bare metal and provide a base for the primer coat). I used a two part polyurethane epoxy primer and a clear coat ... did not do a top coat of paint. In the Winter of 2015, we did the Port drive (which was much worse) and this time sandblasted instead of sanding.
