1975 BMW 3.0 CSL Touring Car at Imola Classic 2025, Lovely Sound, Flames & Emile Breittmayer Onboard

We were delighted to film the 1975 BMW 3.0 CSL belonging to the Belgian Breitt Racing team during the 2025 edition of the Imola Classic by Peter Auto, the European championship dedicated to circuit racing for historic cars. I want to thank driver Emile Breittmayer for his kindness in allowing us to install an action camera during the qualifying session of the Heritage Touring Cup, where he achieved the fourth fastest time. As always, watching him push the car to the limit is a pleasure. The BMW met Group 2 specifications of the then European Touring Car Championship (ETCC). From 1973 to 1975, the vehicles underwent significant improvements. Equipped with inline-6 engines, displacement was increased from 3.2 litres to 3.5 litres, while power output increased from approximately 340 hp to 370–380 hp in the latest versions. The gearboxes went from four to five gears (this example has a five-speed gearbox), and the remarkable thing was the constant search for weight reduction, so much so that the racing cars weigh approximately 1,050 kg. These BMW 3.0 CSL Group 2 cars are indeed spectacular and competitive, with flames constantly erupting from the exhaust and the engines roaring clearly above 7,000-7,500 rpm. The races are hotly contested, and there are regular challenges between BMWs of the same type, but also between peers such as the legendary Ford Capri 3100 RS. Enjoy! 😉 Con grande piacere abbiamo avuto la possibilità di filmare la BMW 3.0 CSL del 1975 appartenente alla scuderia Belga Breitt Racing durante l'edizione 2025 di Imola Classic by Peter Auto, il campionato europeo dedicato alle gare in circuito per vetture storiche. Ringrazio per la gentilezza il pilota Emile Breittmayer che ci ha permesso di installare una action camera durante la sessione di qualifica della Heritage Touring Cup dove ha ottenuto il quarto tempo. Come sempre, vederlo guidare quando spinge al massimo, è sempre un piacere. La vettura è nelle specifiche di Gruppo 2 dell'allora European Touring Car Campionship (ETCC). Dal 1973 al 1975 le vetture subirono notevoli miglioramenti. Equipaggiate con motori a 6 cilindri in linea, la cilindrata venne aumentata da 3-2-Litri a 3.5-Litri così come le potenze passarono da circa 340 hp ai 370-380 hp delle ultime evoluzioni. I cambi passarono da quattro a cinque marce (questo esemplare ha un cambio a cinque rapporti) e la cosa notevole è stata la continua ricerca di diminuire il peso tanto che le vetture in gara pesano all'incirca 1.050 Kg. Queste BMW 3.0 CSL Group 2 sono certamente auto spettacolari e competitive, non mancano mai le fiamme allo scarico e si sentono chiaramente i motori ruggire oltre i 7.000-7.500 giri min. Le gare sono combattute e si assiste regolarmente a sfide tra BMW dello stesso tipo ma anche tra avversarie coetanee come le leggendarie Ford Capri 3100 RS.
