On the show today, we’ll talk about the ‘Defence Forces Vision 2047: A Roadmap for a Future-Ready Indian Military’, which was released by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh alongside the Chief of Defence Staff, the three service chiefs and the Defence Secretary. Prepared by the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, the document lays out a long-term strategy to build a modern, integrated and technologically advanced military by the year 2047 — when India marks 100 years of Independence. The vision emphasises sweeping strategic reforms, capability development and organisational transformation to help India respond effectively to evolving geopolitical and security challenges. At its core is the idea of a fully integrated, multi-domain and agile force capable of deterring adversaries and responding effectively across the entire spectrum of conflict. The blueprint also underscores the importance of greater jointness among the three services, and a stronger push towards indigenous defence technologies and platforms under the government’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
