Hannover Medical School (MHH) is one of the largest transplant centres in Germany and has decades of excellence and experience in heart, lung, kidney, liver and pancreas transplantation as well as transplantation research. This expertise benefits our patients. Between 300 and 400 organs are transplanted at the MHH every year. The recipients come from all age groups - from infants to senior citizens. The interprofessional team carries out living donations of liver and kidney, combination transplants, such as heart and kidney or kidney and pancreas, as well as retransplantation of all organs. The lung transplant programme is one of the largest in Europe. The staff of the MHH clinics, institutes and outpatient clinics accompany patients - before, during and after the transplantation. This means inpatient and outpatient care - for life. The combination of research and patient care at the MHH makes it possible to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for our patients.
