University of San Francisco law professor Lara Bazelon said that although Kamala Harris’ position on police body cameras while she was serving as California’s Attorney General was seen as a “smart on crime, centrist” position at the time, it was also a “disappointment” to some. The debate surrounding police body cameras -- which Harris supported but did not believe should be mandatory for state municipalities -- took place amid outrage and pain over shootings of young Black men by the police. Bazelon spoke with PBS NewsHour political reporter Daniel Bush on day 3 of the Democratic National Convention, which is being held virtually this year.
